Yes, and you should

If your campaign has already ended and you have not yet created transparency notices, you are not too late. Regulation (EU) 2024/900 requires that transparency notices exist for political advertisements regardless of when they were placed. Creating them after the fact is better than not creating them at all.

The Taurus fully supports retroactive notice creation. You can enter past dates for ad placement periods, link notices to elections that have already taken place, and document costs that were already incurred. The platform treats historical data exactly the same as current data -- there is no penalty or special workflow for notices created after the campaign ended.

How to create a retroactive notice

The process is identical to creating any transparency notice:

  1. Start a new notice from your dashboard or campaign page
  2. Enter the actual placement dates -- the wizard accepts past dates without restriction
  3. Link to the relevant election -- past elections appear in the election picker just like upcoming ones
  4. Enter actual costs -- since your campaign is over, you likely have final numbers rather than estimates
  5. Publish -- your notice goes live on ttad.eu with a QR code, just like any other notice

If you have multiple ads from the same campaign, create a campaign first to group them and track aggregate costs automatically.

What about the creation timestamp?

Every published notice records the exact date and time it was created and published. This means a notice created in April for an ad that ran in January will show an April creation date. This is by design -- the timestamp documents when you established your compliance record. It does not affect the legal validity of the notice.

In fact, the creation timestamp works in your favor: it provides an auditable record showing exactly when your organization took steps to meet its transparency obligations.

Common scenarios

You just won an election and want to clean up compliance. Create a campaign for the election, work through each ad placement, and publish the notices. Your compliance profile will show complete coverage.

A publisher requests a notice for an ad they ran months ago. Accept the invite and complete the wizard using the original placement dates and costs. The publisher can then link your notice to their records.

You inherited responsibility for a previous campaign. The platform does not require you to be the original sponsor. If you are now the responsible person, you can create notices for past activity under your organization.

Tip: Use drafts to work at your own pace

There is no deadline for completing a draft. If you are documenting a large campaign retroactively, you can create drafts for each ad, fill them in as you gather information, and publish them when they are ready. Every change is tracked in the revision history.
