Creating Your First Transparency Notice

A quickstart guide to creating, completing, and publishing your first transparency notice on The Taurus.

Getting StartedEN

From zero to published in about ten minutes

Creating a transparency notice is the core action on The Taurus. This article walks you through the process from start to finish so you can publish your first notice quickly and confidently.

Starting a new notice

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Click Create notice — you will find this button on your dashboard and on the notices page.
  3. Choose the language for the notice (English or German).
  4. Optionally, link the notice to an organisation or campaign if you have one set up.

The Taurus opens the wizard, which guides you through all the information required by EU Regulation 2024/900.

The 11-step wizard

The wizard breaks down the regulation's requirements into manageable steps. Here is a brief overview of what each step asks for:

  1. Basics — The language of the ad, which channel it will be published on (print, online, broadcast, etc.), and whether it targets specific audiences.
  2. Sponsor — Who commissioned the ad. This is typically the candidate, party, or organisation running the campaign.
  3. Payer — Who is paying for the ad. Often the same as the sponsor, but sometimes a separate entity covers the costs.
  4. Data controller — The entity responsible for personal data processing related to the ad, as required by the GDPR.
  5. Costs — A breakdown of the costs associated with producing and distributing the ad.
  6. Campaign — Whether this ad is part of a broader campaign, and if so, which one.
  7. Funding origin — Where the money to pay for the ad comes from.
  8. Methodology — A description of the techniques used to prepare and deliver the ad.
  9. Election — Which election, referendum, or legislative process the ad relates to.
  10. Targeting — If the ad targets specific audiences, what criteria are used (geographic, demographic, interest-based, etc.).
  11. Complaint notification — How recipients of the ad can raise complaints or concerns.

You do not have to complete the wizard in one sitting. Your progress is saved automatically after each step. You can close the browser, come back later, and pick up exactly where you left off.

For a detailed explanation of each step, see the wizard overview article.

Publishing your notice

Once you have completed all eleven steps, the wizard shows a summary of your notice. Review the information, then click Publish.

When you publish:

  • A unique public ID is generated for your notice.
  • A QR code is created that links directly to the public notice page.
  • The notice becomes publicly viewable at ttad.eu/{publicId}.

Anyone can scan the QR code or visit the URL to see the full transparency notice — exactly as the regulation requires.

Using the QR code

After publishing, download the QR code from your notice detail page. You can:

  • Print it on flyers, posters, and leaflets
  • Include it in newspaper or magazine advertisements
  • Add it to the description or overlay of online video ads
  • Reference it in broadcast spots (by providing the URL)

The QR code is how your audience accesses the transparency information. For print materials, it is the most practical method of compliance.

Editing and republishing

Made a mistake or need to update something? You can edit a published notice at any time:

  1. Open the notice from your notices list.
  2. Make your changes in the wizard.
  3. Click Publish again.

Each time you republish, The Taurus creates a new revision. Previous versions are preserved for audit purposes. The public URL and QR code stay the same — visitors always see the latest version.

You are done

Your first transparency notice is live. The QR code links to a publicly accessible page that satisfies the disclosure requirements of EU Regulation 2024/900. From here, you can create additional notices, organise them into campaigns, or invite team members to help manage them.
