Adding people to your organization
Once you have created a team organization, the next step is bringing your colleagues on board. The Taurus uses an email-based invitation system that works whether or not the person you are inviting already has an account.
Only Owners can invite new members. If you are an Editor or Viewer and need someone added to the organization, ask an Owner to send the invitation.
How to send an invitation
- Make sure you are in the correct organization using the organization switcher in the top left.
- Navigate to the Members page from the organization menu.
- Click Invite Member.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to invite.
- Select a role for the new member: Owner, Editor, or Viewer. If you are unsure which role to choose, see the article on team roles for guidance.
- Confirm the invitation.
The platform sends an invitation email to the address you provided. What happens next depends on whether the person already has a Taurus account.
If the person already has an account
If the email address matches an existing Taurus account, the person sees the organization immediately in their organization switcher. They can accept the invitation and start working in the organization right away. No additional registration is needed.
If the person does not have an account yet
If the email address does not match any existing account, the invitation remains in a pending state. The person receives an email inviting them to join The Taurus.
When they register using that email address, the platform automatically links the pending invitation to their new account. The organization appears in their organization switcher as soon as registration is complete. There is no separate "accept invite" step — the link happens automatically based on the email match.
This means you can invite your entire team before anyone has created their accounts. Send the invitations now, and each person will be connected to the organization the moment they sign up.
Managing pending invitations
Pending invitations appear in the member list alongside active members, clearly marked with a Pending status. As an Owner, you can:
- Resend an invitation if the original email was missed or went to spam. This sends a fresh invitation email to the same address.
- Cancel an invitation if you sent it to the wrong address or the person no longer needs access. Cancelling removes the pending invitation entirely.
Pending invitations do not expire automatically. They remain active until the person registers, or until an Owner cancels them.
Changing a member's role after joining
If you need to adjust someone's permissions after they have joined, go to the Members page, find the person, and change their role using the dropdown. The change takes effect immediately. Only Owners can change roles.
Removing a member
To remove someone from the organization, go to the Members page and select Remove next to their name. The person loses access to the organization immediately. Their personal organization and any other organizations they belong to are not affected.
If the removed person created notices within the organization, those notices remain in the organization. Notices belong to the organization, not to individual members.
Chapter-scoped access
On Enterprise plans, you can scope a member's access to specific chapters within the organization. This is useful for large organizations where different teams work on different regions or campaigns and should only see their own notices.
When chapter-scoped access is enabled, the member can only view and work with notices, campaigns, and data within their assigned chapters. Organization-wide data remains visible to Owners regardless of chapter assignments.
Best practices
- Start with fewer Owners. One or two Owners per organization is usually enough. Too many Owners dilutes accountability for administrative decisions.
- Use Viewer for external reviewers. If your legal counsel or an auditor needs to review notices, Viewer access gives them everything they need without the risk of accidental edits.
- Invite early. Since pending invitations link automatically on registration, you can set up your full team structure before everyone has created their accounts.
